The Opera on the Road Le Sang du glacier delves into the consequences of climate deregulation. In a contemporary world close to our own, the melting glaciers bleed out red algae, drawing morbidly curious tourists up the mountains and polluting river water downwards.
Le Sang du glacier is the story of the reunion of two siblings, disoriented by personal and climatic events they have no control over. It’s about reconciling the past and the present, humans and the planet.
Lucie Vérot Solaure immersed herself into reality to write the text, which allegorically explores what it means to be connected to the world around us; Claire-Mélanie Sinnhuber’s music enhances voice as an expression of inner feelings. The combination was directed by Angélique Clairand into a sensitive and engaged show.
The Théâtre du Point du Jour hosted the piece’s world premiere before its Auvergne-Rhône Alpes tour, which included performances alongside the banks of the Rhône as a collective space of discussion. Deeply rooted into current events, this opera is wholly and intensely poetic.
