This concert gathering the Lyon Opera Choir and Orchestra is made up of three radiant scores by the great Gabriel Fauré, ranging from youth to later pieces. Come listen to this epitome of expressiveness and generosity for a moment of peaceful meditation on existence.
“Focused on eternal rest and consolation.” This is how French composer Gabriel Fauré introduced his Requiem, an utterly gentle piece written, as he stated, for the sheer pleasure of it, as a tribute to his aspiration towards happiness above. The piece is performed alongside his famous Élégie pour violoncelle and the Cantique de Jean Racine – which he wrote at age 19. A contemplative, somewhat melancholic, yet warm and bright evening to experience shared emotions, at the crossroads of music, poetry and spirituality.
