Cédric Andrieux studied at the Paris Conservatory. For 10 years, he was a dancer in Merce Cunningham’s company in New-York. After working in the U.S., he went back to France and joined the Lyon Opera Ballet in 2007, where he danced for choreographers such as Mats Ek, Angelin Preljocaj, Trisha Brown, William Forsythe, Jiri Kylian, Christian Rizzo or Odile Duboc. In 2009, choreograph Jérôme Bel created him the “Cédric Andrieux” solo, which was performed around the world for almost 15 years. He also worked with choreographs Mathilde Monnier and Daniel Linehan, and with filmmaker Christophe Honoré. He co-created several pieces with Jérôme Bel and Mathilde Monnier for the Lyon Opera Ballet and the Ballet de Lorraine.
He teaches classes at the Paris and Lyon Conservatories, at the French National Dance Center, the National Center for Contemporary Dance in Angers, the French National Centre for Circus Arts, the National Choreography Centers in Grenoble, Rennes, Orléans, and at Jacksonville University and George Mason University, USA.
In 2015, he completed a masters in cultural and artistic direction at Lyon 2 University, before he went on to work at the Amandiers National Center and the National Dance Center. He took up production and runs BureauProduire, which supports several artists working in theatre and dance such as Maud Le Pladec, Vincent Thomasset, Pol Pi or Émilie Rousset.
He became Head of the dance department of the Paris Conservatory in 2018, where he instituted a masters for performers in dance, a health department, national and international partnerships, and colossal projects such as Cunninghamx100 or Trisha Brownx100.
He was awarded the grade of Knight of the Order of Arts and Letters in 2020.
In 2023, he is appointed Director of the Lyon Opera Ballet.
