Benjamin Britten, while capable of the most sophisticated musical experimentation, also loved children's voices, and they can be heard throughout his work. He loved popular traditions, songs and amateurs. This brilliant composer was a free spirit when it came to his beliefs, his friendships and his art. Noah's Ark, based on three biblical legends, reinvents formats that are part of the centuries-old collective heritage and that need to be performed by the people and for the people with passion and simplicity. Here, the young Italian artist Silvia Costa combines the 11 Christmas carols from Ceremony of Carols (1942) with Noah's Ark (1958): the birth of Jesus and the ark saved from the Flood as symbols of hope carried by the voices of the Lyon Opera Children's Choir.
