First up is the wind section. The Op. 71 sextet, composed when the young Beethoven was still making his way up the ladder of Austrian polite society, reflects the Viennese passion for wind instruments, and the mix of virtuosity, ingenuity and joy produces an energy that is contagious. Then it is the string section’s turn with the famous Trout quintet, also a work of youth, where Schubert references his Liedof the same name.
