After a residency in the basement of the opera house this autumn, the Lyon-based duo is presenting the premiere of their new project, Animals That Don’t Exist (Les Animaux qui n'existent pas), in collaboration with actress Maud Chapoutier.
After an entirely instrumental album, the magnificent Can of Worms, this new work incorporates lyrics, both spoken and sung, that recount contemporary fables.
Anne Quillier's keyboards and the clarinets of Pierre Horckmans form a soundtrack to this book of imaginary beasts that moves between experimental pop, vintage-style electronic music and jazz. The music is meticulously arranged with surging lyrical passages and a cinematic mood that perfectly capture the emotion of the piece.
Anne Quillier : piano, Fender Rhodes, Moog, voice
Maud Chapoutier : texts, spoken voice
